What changes do we face with aging?
With aging, thin and deep wrinkles and sagging occur on our face. The reasons for this include gravitational effects, sun rays, ultraviolet, facial expressions such as laughing, frowning, squinting, and exposure to negative external factors such as smoking. Over time, there is a decrease in substances such as hyaluronic acid, which are present in the skin and make our skin look younger and younger. As a result, there may be deep or thin wrinkles that go down to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial groove) around the lip, around the mouth, around our eyes (crow’s feet), forehead, and both nose wings.
What are the filling materials?
Filling of the lines and deep wrinkles, sagging due to aging (under the eyes, cheeks etc.), some pit areas of the skin (such as scars, acne scars) and ensuring fullness; in some cases, the materials used under the skin for correction of contours (such as lips appear more vividly curved and fuller) are called fillers. These are commercially available products made from a wide range of chemicals. However, since injection of impurities into the body may cause many drawbacks, they are not preferred except for a few reliable products (such as hyaluronic acid derivatives).
Non-Permanent Fillers
Hyaluronic Acid Welded Fillers are, for example, BELOTERO®, JUVÉDERM®, Perfectha®, REVANESSE®, RESTYLANE® and TEOSYAL®.
Artefill (artecoll) is an FDA-approved filler with a suspension of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) in collagen; Sculptra is an FDA approved, long-lasting filler containing poly-L-lactic acid; ELLANSÉ PCL Smart Filler contains polycaprolactone microparticles and is long lasting effective; Radiesse is one of the trusted FDA approved fillers which contains Calcium hydroxylapatite as active filler.
In addition to these fillers, Cosmoderm (bio-engineered human collagen tissue containing anesthetic); Evolence, (collagen fill from pig tendons); There are fillers of biological origin such as Zyderm and Zyplast, which contain cattle collagen, but these products are currently not used in our country.
Are fillers used only for the face?
It is often used to provide a percent stroke. It is possible to use biological, temporary, semi-permanent and permanent filling materials to clarify lip folds and chin tip, increase forehead curvature, and fuller cheekbones. The use of fillers for breast and hip enlargement / shaping in the body has increased in recent years, although their use is more contoured, but their reliability is controversial. In addition, fillers are used to improve acne scars, eliminate depressions, and reduce cellulite dimples and certain body scars.
